The WIEST GROUP's charity golf series collects initial donations for sick children in Darmstadt
As the organizers of the WCGTour report, the popular charity golf series of the WIEST GROUP kicked off its new season last Friday at the GC Kiawah Golfpark Riedstadt. Despite changeable weather forecasts and some last-minute cancellations, the atmosphere at the opening tournament remained positive. Around 40 golfers played enthusiastically on the well-maintained nine-hole course and achieved some impressive scores.
Home advantage played to its advantage: GC Kiawah provides winners in all classes
Sebastian Huber from GC Kiawah secured the day's victory with 16 gross points, thus qualifying for the grand tour final in August in Gernsheim. Players from the home club also dominated the net categories: Ralf Stieglitz (19 net points) and Heitho Geipert (20 net points) won their respective classes. All winners of the gross and handicap categories, as well as the special categories, received high-quality gift baskets from EDEKA Patschull and other prizes from the tour partners.
Fundraising campaign for the association for children with cancer in Darmstadt
As in previous years, the WCGTour focuses not only on sporting competition but also on social commitment. For every hole-in-one, birdie, eagle, par, or bogey scored, the approximately 50 partner companies donate fixed amounts to the Darmstadt Association for Children with Cancer and Chronic Illnesses (VKKD). Nearly €300 was raised at the opening tournament.
“Of course, we would have liked to have raised more donations at the start,” said organizer Jörg Dieckmann of Erlebniskreateure. “However, the last-minute cancellations due to the weather also affected the donation revenue. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to the upcoming tournaments with confidence.”
Next tour stop: Golf Sport Park Groß-Zimmern
The next WCGTour tournament will take place on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Golf Sport Park Groß-Zimmern. Play will continue there as part of a traditional after-work tournament – and prize money will be collected.
