WCGTour impresses with a strong field of participants and record donations for sick children
RIEDSTADT – Sunshine, sporting ambition, and a strong show of solidarity: The WCGTour's "Monthly Prize" at Golfpark Riedstadt was a resounding success last Saturday. Following the already well-attended opening tournament, "Kiawah Nine," the charity tour made its second stop of the season at the GOLF absolute course – and was once again completely sold out. Nearly 90 golfers came together for the fifth tournament of the current series to play for a good cause.
The flights teed off in perfect conditions for the 18-hole tournament starting at 10 a.m. The sun shone brightly over the Ried as the first tee shot was taken – a stroke of luck that would last all day. Around 5 p.m., the last flight arrived back at the clubhouse in good spirits and satisfied.
Exciting competition and generous awards ceremony
The awards ceremony took place afterwards in the outdoor area of the "Hof Hayna" club restaurant. In addition to the winners of the gross score and handicap classes A to C, the best performances in the special categories were also recognized. The winners received generous gift baskets from EDEKA Patschull, vouchers, and other prizes from WCGTour partners.
Jana Krombholz (Kiawah Golfpark Riedstadt) and Bong Joo Kim (Golfpark Bachgrund) secured the gross victory, thus qualifying for the grand final tournament of the WCGTour at the Gernsheim Golf Resort.
Highest donation amount of the current season
The sporting performance was also impressive: a total of 1 eagle, 41 birdies, 338 pars, and 521 bogeys were achieved – resulting in a donation of €813.50. Supplemented by an additional €365 in voluntary donations during the awards ceremony, the event raised a total of €1,178.50 – a record for the current tournament series. The money will go to the Association for Children with Cancer and Chronic Illnesses Darmstadt / Rhine-Main-Neckar eV (VKKD) .
The story continues next weekend
The WCGTour 2025 continues at a rapid pace: On Friday, July 18th, it will be hosted by the "Nine from Two" format at the Gernsheim Golf Resort. Just two days later, on Sunday, July 20th, the traditional "Monthly Cup" will take place at the Odenwald Golf Club.
