Young people from intensive classes of the Martin Buber School report on radio on home, hobbies and favorite dishes
14 young people from the intensive classes of the Martin Buber School in Groß-Gerau have as part of the project "We make radio!" produces its own one -hour radio show. They were supported by the youth education center of the Groß-Gerau district , the municipal youth work of the city of Groß-Gerau and the media education center Radio Rüsselsheim .
The young participants between the ages of 12 and 16 come from various countries of origin and are currently learning the German language intensively. Despite the initial language barrier, they designed a versatile radio magazine that was broadcast Radio Rüsselsheim Four of the young people even led the show live.
Personal stories and exciting interviews
The topics of the program ranged from personal interests such as football, music and leisure activities to culture and culinary arts from the countries of origin . In expert interviews, a soccer coach, a restaurant operator and a travel agency had their say. For example, the Persian restaurant informed about the differences between Iranian and Afghan cuisine - including appetite regulators for curious listeners.
A special highlight was an interview about the Groß-Gerau swimming pool , which not only informed about his offers, but also gave the young people the opportunity to ask questions in a professional setting-and to be taken seriously.
Media literacy meets community
In addition to the content of the acquisition of new skills. The young people learned how to deal with laptops, microphone and cut software , gained initial experiences in live moderation and grew noticeably beyond themselves. During the breaks, they used the leisure activities in the youth center Anne Frank , which in addition to a recording studio also provided rooms for sports and games.
