Cooperation with Bike2future offers free rental options for bicycles and e-bikes
The city of Weiterstadt, together with the local bicycle shop Bike2future, an example for climate-friendly mobility and making it easier to switch to cycling with two free test campaigns for citizens.
Bicycle test week for new residents
As part of the (new) citizens' bike tour on June 29, 2025, interested new residents will receive a bicycle for free test use for one week . The bikes – classic or electric – are picked up directly from the Bike2future store and returned after seven days.
“With this initiative, we particularly want to encourage new residents to explore the city and its surroundings in an environmentally friendly way,” explains Mayor Ralf Möller . The tour offers an opportunity to actively get to know Weiterstadt – all citizens are invited to participate.
E-bike test campaign during the city cycling event in September
From September 8th to 28th, 2025 , during the City Cycling campaign , Bike2future will provide e-bikes for free loan for one day – with the option to extend the trial period to up to one week . The company will also cover all rental costs.

Mobility transition with local engagement
With these two initiatives, the city and specialist retailers are supporting the mobility transition at the local level and showing how concrete offers can motivate people to take new routes in everyday life – or to drive.
