Winter maintenance begins / Residents are responsible for sidewalks
The municipal services department (EAD) of the city of Darmstadt has begun its winter maintenance season traffic safety on roads and bike paths throughout the city, weather permitting clearing sidewalks remains the responsibility of the respective property owners .
According to regulations, road salt may only be used in cases of black ice or freezing rain. Chemical de-icing agents such as urea, ammonium salts, or phosphates Grit or sand should be used sparingly to remove snow residue – only as much as is necessary to maintain traffic safety.
Free gravel at the recycling center
, Darmstadt residents can small quantities of gravel (up to 20 liters) located at Sensfelderweg 33 during opening hours.
