Winter maintenance begins / Residents are responsible for sidewalks
The municipal services department (EAD) of the city of Darmstadt has begun its winter maintenance season weather permitting traffic safety on roads and bike paths throughout the city, clearing sidewalks remains the responsibility of the respective property owners.
According to regulations, road salt may only be used in cases of black ice or freezing rain. Chemical de-icing agents such as urea, ammonium salts, or phosphates should be used sparingly to remove snow residue Grit or sand – only as much as is necessary to maintain traffic safety.
