Winter maintenance begins / Residents are responsible for sidewalks
The municipal services department (EAD) of the city of Darmstadt has begun its winter maintenance season . From now on, the EAD will ensure traffic safety on roads and bike paths throughout the city, weather permitting . However, clearing sidewalks remains the responsibility of the respective property owners .
According to regulations, road salt may only be used in cases of black ice or freezing rain. Chemical de-icing agents such as urea, ammonium salts, or phosphates are also only permitted in exceptional circumstances. Grit or sand should be used sparingly to remove snow residue – only as much as is necessary to maintain traffic safety.
Free gravel at the recycling center
From now on , Darmstadt residents can pick up small quantities of gravel (up to 20 liters) free of charge at the recycling center located at Sensfelderweg 33 during opening hours. ➡️ Further information: ead.darmstadt.de/unser-angebot/gewerbebetriebe/abfallverwertung/recyclinghof
