Topics, projects and programs 2024 in the cultural region
The 15th edition of the »Museums & Special Exhibitions« was published fresh from printing. With 106 participating exhibition buildings, the annual planner presents a wide range of interesting special and permanent exhibitions in the Rhein-Main region: from history and local museums to internationally known art museums or technical collections.
The new Museum Reinhard Ernst in Wiesbaden opened in 2024 as an enrichment for the museum landscape. The reopening of the German Architecture Museum in Frankfurt and Hanau in Philippsruhe Castle is expected to be reopened. And as an exciting new additions to the museum booklet, the Hattersheim City Museum, the Museum Obenttraut3 in Ingelheim, the Burgruine Münzenberg, the Kunstverein Bellevue Hall in Wiesbaden and the modernized Philipp-Reis-Haus in Friedrichsdorf invite you. The assembled exhibitions reflect the variety of social topics.
"Spirit of Freedom-Freedom of Spirit" combines the history of freedom and democracy in the Rhine-Main region with current social issues. At the end of the year 2024, the project, together with the Aschaffenburg City and Abbey Archives and the Hessian State Center for Political Education, released the conference volume "In 1933 in Rhein-Main". For the 175th anniversary of the 1848/49 revolution, "Spirit of Freedom" sends the Büchner stage with theatrical interventions between newspaper reading and debate and the anniversary newspaper "Extrablatt 1848" through the region. The campaign will start on March 7 at 5 p.m. on the Wiesbaden Schlossplatz. On the occasion of 75 years of the Basic Law, the project on May 5th linked the three places in the region, which are closely linked to the history of our constitution, as part of a day tour.
The International Theater Festival »Strong Pieces« brings from February 20 to March 4, 2024 to the stages of the Rhine-Main region for the 30th time for a young audience. Artists from eight countries are with exciting productions at the anniversary edition. The program ranges from narrative and object theater, acrobatics and dance to installations and interactive radio plays. 130 performances of 18 theater companies are planned at 36 different venues.
"Gartenrheinmain" project takes a look at the region's garden treasures and special parks in the region every year. It not only draws attention to their beauty, history and today's meaning, but also deals with the sustainable use of gardens and parks. With the focus topic "with all senses", "Gartenrheinmain" would like to strengthen the desire and joy of green in 2024 and promote a positive attitude towards green spaces, nature and sustainable topics. The green should be discovered creatively and sensually. The " Days of Industrial Culture Rhein-Main" take from 14-22. September the motto "full of energy" in focus and thus devote themselves to a current topic. The varied program ranges from operational tours to exhibitions to shipping and not only conveys technical aspects around energy generation and supply. It also addresses current and social questions: What energies do we use to deny the future? How can the transformation processes be mastered and designed?
