The Dementia Network launches a campaign with events in several municipalities
As the Griesheim Senior Citizens' Office reports, the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, along with numerous municipalities and institutions, is participating in a campaign for World Alzheimer's Day 2025. Under the motto "Dementia – Being and Remaining Human," the campaign aims to highlight that people with dementia are not solely defined by their illness, but continue to be part of society – with their strengths and feelings.
During Dementia Awareness Week, from September 19th to 28th, banners will be displayed in public places throughout the municipalities. The campaign will be accompanied by various events, including expert lectures, film screenings, and information booths in front of town halls. One example is the lecture "Enjoying Everyday Life with Dementia" in Pfungstadt, which is aimed at family members, interested individuals, and caregivers.
The Darmstadt-Dieburg Dementia Network is organizing the campaign in cooperation with municipalities, church organizations, medical institutions, and volunteers. The network is funded by statutory long-term care insurance providers. The program includes, among other things, a screening of the film "Still Alice" at the Saalbaukino cinema in Pfungstadt and a support group for family members in Weiterstadt.
Further information and an overview of the events can be found on the website of the Dementia Network Darmstadt-Dieburg .
