The Dementia Network is raising awareness with events from September 19th to 28th
Under the motto "Dementia – Being and Remaining Human," World Alzheimer's Day on September 21, 2025, serves as a reminder that people with dementia are not defined by their illness, but remain part of society. The aim is to reduce prejudice and strengthen understanding and compassion.
The senior citizens' office of the city of Griesheim is drawing attention to a joint campaign in the district, initiated by the Darmstadt-Dieburg Dementia Network . From September 19th to 28th , banners will be displayed in public places, and various events will take place – from expert lectures and film screenings to information booths in front of town halls .
One example is the lecture in Pfungstadt on the topic of "Enjoying Everyday Life with Dementia," which is aimed at family members, interested individuals, and caregivers. In addition, the Saalbau cinema in Pfungstadt is showing the film "Still Alice." A support group for family members is offered in Weiterstadt .
