Ecumenical church services under the motto "Come! Bring your burden."
Under the motto "Come! Bring your burdens," the World Day of Prayer will be celebrated worldwide on Friday, March 6, 2026. This year's liturgy was written by Christian women from Nigeria. Numerous ecumenical services and events will also take place in Darmstadt and the Darmstadt-Dieburg district.
World Day of Prayer is observed in more than 150 countries. It combines prayer with information about the respective partner country. Nigeria, with more than 230 million inhabitants, is the most populous country in Africa. Alongside cultural diversity, the country is characterized by social, ethnic, and religious tensions. Issues such as poverty, violence, environmental destruction, and terrorism have a profound impact on the daily lives of many people.
The liturgy addresses these realities of life and speaks of hope, community, and the strength of faith in difficult times. The World Day of Prayer advocates for peace, justice, and the dignity of women and girls worldwide, and supports women's projects around the globe with the collections.
