The following companies are "Vocational Training Ambassador Companies 2025": Vocational training ambassadors are apprentices who primarily inform students about their chosen profession in schools. Last year, the ambassadors made 44 visits to schools. The Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce lists 40 companies with 74 vocational training ambassadors, 55 of whom are from the commercial sector and 19 from the industrial-technical sector. The Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce trains prospective vocational training ambassadors in free one-day seminars and coordinates the school visits. "With this award, we thank the dedicated apprentices, but also the companies that release their apprentices for this voluntary work," explains Jessica Busalt from the Darmstadt Chamber of Industry and Commerce's vocational training team. “Our ambassadors have become even more important to us in the last two years. For the first time in a few years, we have more open apprenticeship positions than applicants,” says Busalt. “Our ambassadors can promote vocational training as a career path in a truly authentic and convincing way. They are close in age to the profession and know what they're talking about,” Busalt continues. The apprentices are happy to explain why they themselves chose this path. Practical experience, good career advancement opportunities, and financial independence are usually the top reasons cited by the ambassadors. “Not only are the chances of securing an apprenticeship better than ever before, but the sheer variety is also a major draw,” Busalt is convinced. Students can choose from over 250 IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) apprenticeship programs. “And after completing their apprenticeship, they can pursue further training – also with a practical focus – and even earn a qualification as a certified specialist or master craftsman that is equivalent to a bachelor's degree,” says Busalt. The Apprenticeship Ambassador program was launched in 2015 by several Chambers of Industry and Commerce.
