Particularly noteworthy: Almost half of the call-outs involved technical assistance, especially in road traffic. Fire calls accounted for 41 of the alarms, while 107 false alarms were recorded. Thirteen people were rescued thanks to the courageous intervention of the fire department, while for two people, all help came too late. In total, the members of the operational unit contributed 7,899.3 volunteer hours \u2013 a testament to the enormous commitment of these volunteers. \"The growing challenges, whether from extreme weather events or increased bureaucratic requirements, are making the work of our fire department more difficult. However, the dedication of our volunteers demonstrates that we are reliably there for the citizens, even in challenging times,\" emphasized Mayor J\u00f6rg R\u00fcddenklau, expressing his sincere gratitude for the outstanding commitment of the firefighters. The fire department also had an active year in the area of \u200b\u200byouth development. The Gro\u00df-Gerau youth fire brigade logged 1,788 hours of service, during which the young members participated in competitions, received first aid training, and completed an impressive final exercise during a frost in December. With 28 members \u2013 19 boys and 9 girls \u2013 interest in youth development remains strong. Particularly encouraging is the fact that the \"L\u00f6schm\u00e4use\" (Firefighting Mice) children's fire brigade had 24 members and, with 20 children on the waiting list, is experiencing high demand. The fire department leadership is particularly proud of the commitment of its honorary and senior members: \"Despite their well-deserved retirement, they still actively participate in training the junior firefighters.\" The Gro\u00df-Gerau Volunteer Fire Department impressively demonstrates that volunteer work remains indispensable in a modern society.
