To kick off the gardening season, the Darmstadt Municipal Services Department (EAD) is once again offering its free collection of green waste from Darmstadt households from Monday, March 10, through Monday, April 28. Those interested are asked to book a collection appointment by phone at 06151 13-46000 or online via the EAD customer portal www.portal.ead.darmstadt.de. The EAD recommends booking appointments early, as the above-mentioned period includes an Easter break. Before collection, please note the following: Larger paper bags suitable for loose green waste are available for purchase at the EAD recycling center for €0.70 each. The opening hours are: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can also purchase 70-liter bags for collection at the Eberstadt and Wixhausen district offices, as well as in the city hall foyer at the New Town Hall on Luisenplatz. As before, for reasons of time and occupational safety, the bags and other green waste will only be collected by the EAD (Darmstadt Waste Management Authority) during scheduled garden waste collections – not during organic waste collections. Wood pieces and rootstocks with a diameter of over ten centimeters will be collected separately, as they can damage the compaction mechanism of the EAD collection vehicles. This large wood – like all other compostable waste from Darmstadt households – can be disposed of free of charge at the composting facility at Eckhardwiesenstraße 25. Opening hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (DARMSTADT – PSD / dk)"}
