The team from the Passive House Institute and the town of Riedstadt are working diligently on proposals for the new renovation areas in Crumstadt, Goddelau, and Leeheim. "We are collecting data from various sources and presenting it in a geographic information system," explains Dr. Jürgen Schnieders, Managing Director of the Passive House Institute. One problem is that different sources use different spellings for the same address. "That's why consolidating the data is laborious. But we have a good overview and are currently developing proposals for defining the boundaries of the areas," Schnieders continues. "We will present the proposals at a workshop on Monday, January 27, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the town hall and involve the citizens in the decision-making process. The resolution is then planned for March in the town council. The renovations with tax breaks can therefore begin before Easter," says Mayor Marcus Kretschmann with satisfaction. Citizens can already contribute their ideas. “We ask all interested parties to fill out the questionnaire at www.klimafreundliches-riedstadt.de. This helps us enormously in assessing what is possible in Riedstadt and where further clarification is needed,” explains Benjamin Krick, the city's renovation manager. The website also offers a tool for recording the energy consumption of buildings, which provides suggestions for individual renovations. From mid-January, preferably in the late evening or early morning hours, a team will also be out and about in the city's districts with a thermal imaging camera. This camera makes weak points in buildings, so-called thermal bridges, visible in bright yellow and red tones. The images taken from the street will supplement the data already collected and will later be made available to interested citizens.
