The Groß-Gerau district and the Groß-Gerau OloV region have announced that the OloV steering committee has been working intensively on precisely this: Together with the chambers of commerce, the steering committee has developed the regional OloV strategy for 2025-2028. This strategy aims to improve the transition of young people from school to work and to secure a long-term supply of skilled workers. The OloV steering committee includes representatives from the city of Rüsselsheim am Main, the city of Kelsterbach, the Groß-Gerau district, the State School Authority, the Employment Agency, and the local job center. The OloV strategy defines the regional goals for the school-to-work transition. It aims to consolidate and coordinate projects and measures related to the transition from school to work – also to avoid duplication of services and to ensure the quality of career guidance. The county council resolution of 2018, stipulating that "no one leaves school without a secure future perspective," has top priority. The focus is on providing tailored placement and support for young people. Close collaboration among stakeholders ensures the continuous evaluation and optimization of projects, programs, and initiatives in career guidance. Specific target groups, such as young people facing multiple challenges, newly arrived immigrants, and students in inclusive education settings, receive appropriate support. A key component of the new regional strategy is the increased involvement of parents in their children's career orientation process. In addition to individual counseling for young people by the employment agency, the county's career planning services, and the municipal job center, new formats are being developed to inform parents earlier and more comprehensively about career prospects and educational pathways. A retreat for the OloV steering committee in May 2025 will focus on developing new ideas for working with parents. Practical insights gained through internships, career orientation days, and taster days in companies are crucial for a successful transition into the world of work. Cooperation between regional companies and stakeholders involved in the school-to-work transition is being intensified to optimize the placement of apprenticeships and internships. All participants are working closely together to offer young people the best possible opportunities for their professional future. Access to career guidance services is facilitated through the digital recording and regular publication of offers on the website www.bo-suedhessen.de, as well as transparent communication. "With this regional strategy, we are focusing on enhanced public relations and innovative approaches to make the transition from school to work even more effective. I thank everyone involved for their commitment and support in implementing our regional OloV strategy," says District Administrator Thomas Will. "The strategy is the result of close cooperation and intensive exchange among local stakeholders. The diverse perspectives contributed by the chambers of commerce, the school board, and the employment agency will continue to help us develop tailored solutions for the school-to-work transition," explains Murat Karakaya, Mayor of Rüsselsheim am Main.
