City Councillor Ilse Scheuner welcomed the young guests on behalf of Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau. "The carol singing campaign demonstrates how important it is to strengthen children's rights worldwide. It is admirable how these children and young people, through their commitment, set an example for solidarity and justice. My thanks go to everyone involved – you are role models for our society!" emphasized Scheuner. This year's campaign is themed "Raise your voice! – Carol singing for children's rights." Twenty-eight children aged 4 to 16, supported by ten adult supervisors, are traveling in four groups through the town center and the districts of Wallerstädten, Dornberg, Berkach, and Dornheim, as well as to Büttelborn and Klein-Gerau. Over 20 children and teenagers brought their blessings to the town hall on their own. The carol singers will be out and about for a total of four days. Donations for disadvantaged children worldwide: The 2025 carol singers' campaign draws attention to the situation of millions of children worldwide who urgently need support. 250 million children – primarily girls – do not attend school. 160 million children have to work, half of them under exploitative conditions. The carol singers collect donations to combat these injustices and strengthen children's rights worldwide. In keeping with this year's theme, a donated wooden bench was painted yellow and inscribed with children's rights. This bench will be placed in various locations throughout the week to raise awareness of the campaign. It will also be displayed at the Groß-Gerau weekly market. "It's wonderful to see how the children and teenagers participate year after year and advocate for a fairer world," explains Tobias Sattler, organizer and supervisor of the carol singers in Groß-Gerau. “Many of them have been involved for years, and it’s wonderful to see how they grow into their roles.” The town of Groß-Gerau extends its heartfelt thanks to all the carolers, young people, and chaperones for their dedication and wishes them continued success with the campaign.
