Trebur – A great climate?", the real estate roundtable, together with the municipality of Trebur and the Groß-Gerau District Adult Education Center (KVHS), hosted an information evening and local tour on June 25. The event was part of the "Future-proof Energy for All" series and was funded by the Hessian State Energy Agency (LEA). Interested citizens learned about the concrete effects of climate change in their community and discussed adaptation options. Mayor Jochen Engel also participated. Green spaces cool, sealed surfaces heat up. Climate expert Christian Kotremba, a geographer, led the evening and presented findings from a prior local tour. Trebur's comparatively good green spaces were particularly striking, for example, the large-crowned winter linden trees, which contribute to cooling the microclimate. Nevertheless, localized surface temperatures of over 45°C were recorded on heavily sealed surfaces, while green areas reached around 30°C. The high degree of sealing on the grounds of the local primary school was viewed critically. According to Kotremba, unsealing is urgently recommended there. The shaded playground with climate-adapted planting was highlighted as a positive example. Heavy rain, greening regulations, and further events: The audience asked many questions – including about the use of heavy rain hazard maps, private preparedness for severe weather, and the introduction of a greening regulations in Trebur. Two further events in the series offer interested citizens the opportunity to delve deeper into these topics: Information and registration at: www.kvhsgg.de/gesellschaft (RIEDSTADT – RED/PSR) Featured image: Local tour in Trebur: Dennis Möbus"}
