Since January 2025, lightweight packaging has been disposed of exclusively via yellow bags.
In the Darmstadt-Dieburg district, has been disposed of exclusively via yellow bags since January 1, 2025. Yellow bins, bag garages, or other containers will no longer be emptied . The yellow bags must loosely on the ground at the roadside – not in the bin, not against the fence, and not in wire mesh containers .
End of the goodwill arrangement for dead-end garages
Although sack garages are no longer permitted according to system regulations RMG Rohstoffmanagement GmbH, commissioned by the Dual Systems, had continued to empty them as a courtesy. This transitional phase has now ended .
The regulation applies to all residents until December 31, 2027. Exceptions are made for large -scale waste collection points have received 1,100-liter container from RMG
Background of the regulation
RMG Rohstoffmanagement GmbH has been commissioned by the operators of the dual systems, represented by Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH (DSD) , to collect and transport lightweight packaging. This is based on the system agreement Darmstadt-Dieburg district and DSD defines the district as a bag-only collection area for the period 2025 to 2027
What applies to existing barrels and containers?
Existing yellow bins, wire mesh containers, or bag storage units can still for the temporary storage of yellow bags. However, for collection, only loose yellow bags will be taken .
At the beginning of 2025, yellow recycling bins were emptied one last time as a courtesy and marked with information about the new regulations. Since the end of this transition period, no more bins or bag-in-boxes have been emptied .
Why not wire mesh boxes or sack garages?
Wire mesh containers caused accidents and property damage in the past sack garages also hinder the smooth collection process. Therefore, the yellow bags must be visibly and loosely placed on the ground.
An RMG spokesperson explains:
“The contractual requirements are clear: Collection takes place exclusively via loosely provided yellow bags. This ensures safety and an efficient process.”
