Groß-Gerau district: No more opaque bags in the collection of lightweight packaging
announced Meinhardt Städtereinigung GmbH & Co. KG the waste disposal company responsible for Nauheim new regulations for the disposal of lightweight packaging will apply in the Groß-Gerau district January 1, 2026. Opaque bags will yellow bins (240- and 1,100-liter containers) .
Reason for the new regulation
Opaque bags cannot be checked during collection – they often contain residual waste that does not belong in the yellow bin. If incorrect sorting is detected, the bin will be marked with the note "Incorrectly sorted" . In this case, the responsible party must sort the waste themselves. The bin will then be emptied again on the next regular collection day.
Loose, opaque bags will no longer be collected starting in January. Transparent bags , available in stores, will remain permitted. The municipality of Nauheim will not be distributing any bags.

For the correct sorting of waste, the municipality of Nauheim recommends, among other things, the information page of the initiative “Waste separation works!” of the dual systems.
The municipality asks all citizens for their support and understanding in implementing the new regulations.
