Young people are raising money for their youth work
From March 14th to April 2nd, 2026, numerous children and young people in Weiterstadt will once again participate in the Youth Collection Week. The aim of this statewide campaign is to collect donations for local youth programs.
Youth work is considered an important building block for the personal and social development of young people. Since projects, leisure activities, and programs involve costs, once a year dedicated young people go door-to-door collecting donations to ask for support. The youth collection week has a tradition of over 70 years in Hesse.
Donations largely remain in the local area
Seventy percent of the collected funds remain directly with the collecting groups. The money is used for purposes such as renovating youth centers, purchasing playground and sports equipment, and organizing holiday activities.
The remaining 30 percent goes to the Hessian Youth Council, which uses it to support statewide initiatives and projects for children and young people.
The youth fundraising week is organized by the Hessian Youth Ring, an association of various youth organizations, including the Youth Red Cross, the Sports Youth, and the Youth Fire Brigade. The funds raised are available to youth groups for events, trips, and a wide range of leisure activities.
Club representatives are requested to collect the necessary documents at the reception desk in the town hall on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 5:00 p.m.
