Children and young people are collecting donations for local projects
From March 14th to April 2nd, 2026, children and young people in Weiterstadt will participate in the youth fundraising week. During this time, they will collect donations for projects and programs offered by local youth organizations.
The campaign is organized nationwide by the Hessian Youth Ring and aims to support young people in shaping their own leisure activities and projects.
Support for local youth projects
Youth work offers children and young people opportunities to actively shape their free time, take on responsibility, and experience community. To finance projects, events, or excursions, youth groups collect donations from citizens once a year.
A large portion of the funds raised stays directly in the local community: 70 percent of the proceeds are available to the fundraising groups in Weiterstadt . These funds are used, among other things, to renovate and equip youth centers, purchase recreational and sports equipment, and organize workshops and educational programs. Excursions, holiday camps, and cultural projects can also be financially supported in this way.
Part of the donations goes towards nationwide projects
The remaining 30 percent of the donation amount goes to the Hessian Youth Council. This funding supports statewide projects for children and young people, assists youth associations, and strengthens opportunities for participation throughout Hesse.
The youth fundraising week thrives on the commitment of young people and the support of the community. When children and teenagers go door-to-door asking for donations in the coming weeks, citizens will be directly supporting youth work in Weiterstadt.
