Young people from both cities spend a week together under the motto "Friendship"
In the anniversary year of the town twinning between Griesheim and Bar-le-Duc, a special youth exchange is currently taking place: From July 5th to 11th, 2025, to spend time together, get to know each other's cultures and make friends as part of the Griesheim youth services' summer holiday program
The first half of the week was dedicated to getting to know each other in Griesheim: At the Blue Box youth center, the participants enjoyed a variety of activities such as graffiti workshops , a trip to Frankfurt , a visit to a trampoline park , and other leisure activities. Besides having fun and exchanging ideas, there was also the opportunity language skills and experience each other's cultures firsthand.
On Wednesday, July 8th , the group continued their journey to Bar-le-Duc in France. On the way, the young people visited Verdun , where they were introduced to Franco-German history, particularly the First World War , in an age-appropriate manner. The establishment of the town twinning in 1975 was also discussed.
In Bar-le-Duc, the participants will receive a warm welcome from the twinning committee, which organized a small celebration . A trip to Lac du Der , one of the largest reservoirs in Europe, is also planned, along with other joint activities to enrich the remaining days.
