Individual support during the transition to training, work and independence
DARMSTADT – Shortly before the start of the new training year, many young people are still searching for an apprenticeship or a follow-up opportunity. The Mobile Youth Career Support Service of the Science City of Darmstadt offers support in this regard. The two specialists, Sascha Bertram (Werkhof Darmstadt eV) and Elias Rosewick (Youth Welfare Office), provide individual, low-threshold support to young people in the city's neighborhoods, close to their homes.
The goal is to jointly develop career prospects, support the application process, and prepare young people for interviews and employment tests. Information on school qualifications and alternative training paths is also offered.
The mobile counseling service includes open consultation hours at youth and community work facilities, individually scheduled appointments at various locations throughout the city, and outreach sessions in public spaces. The goal is to reach young people directly and attract them to this voluntary and free service.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: "The two specialists act as local contacts, listen, assess individual support needs, and develop tailored solutions with the young people. Practice shows that, especially at the threshold of independence, there is still a great need for individual, holistic support."
The mobile youth career support service is part of the ESF Plus program "STRENGTHENING YOUTH: Building Bridges to Independence," which has been running since 2021 and is aimed at young people in special life situations. In addition to the mobile service, the "Sodi 7" counseling center at Soderstraße 7 integrated. It is operated by the ROPE eV network and offers fixed counseling hours (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an additional walk-in consultation hour on Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
