Individual support during the transition to education, work and independence
DARMSTADT – Shortly before the start of the new academic year, many young people are still looking for an apprenticeship or further training opportunities. The Mobile Youth Employment Service of the City of Darmstadt offers support in this area. The two specialists, Sascha Bertram (Werkhof Darmstadt eV) and Elias Rosewick (Youth Welfare Office) , provide individual, local, and easily accessible support to young people in the city's neighborhoods.
The aim is to jointly develop career prospects, support application processes, and prepare young people for job interviews or aptitude tests. Information on school qualifications and alternative training pathways is also part of the program.
The mobile counselling service includes open office hours at youth and community work facilities, individually arranged appointments at various locations throughout the city, and outreach conversations in public spaces. The aim is to reach young people directly and encourage them to take advantage of this voluntary and free service.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes: “The two specialists are local contacts, listen, assess individual support needs, and develop tailored solutions with the young people. Experience shows that, especially on the threshold to independence, there is still a great need for individual, holistic support.”
The Mobile Youth Employment Service is part of the ESF-Plus program "Strengthening Youth: Bridges to Independence," which and is aimed at young people in challenging life situations. In addition to the mobile service, the "Sodi 7" advice center at Soderstraße 7 involved. It is operated by Netzwerk ROPE eV and offers regular consultation hours (Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with an additional open "walk-in" consultation hour on Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.).
