Expansion of educational offerings – booking now possible
As the city of Darmstadt, a center of science, announces, the Vivarium Zoo is now offering individual appointments for its popular "Research Camp." The program is aimed at school classes from first to twelfth grade and is designed to meet the increasing demand from schools. During the week, zoo educator Dr. Frank Velte leads tours from 1:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., exploring various topics related to the animal kingdom and natural history.
Diverse topics for all age groups
Several focus areas are available for the research camp, including:
– Reptiles as pets
– Native birds
– Native insects
– Life in a drop of water – Microscopy
– How do I set up an aquarium?
The content is tailored to different age groups and allows for practical learning directly on the animal or under the microscope.
Schools can arrange individual appointments
City treasurer André Schellenberg welcomes the expansion of the program:
“We have been able to expand the zoo's offerings and are pleased to be able to meet the interest of schools. School classes can now register for individual appointments at the research camp.”
