There will be restrictions between Weiterstadt and Langen/Mörfelden until the end of August
Motorists on the A5 motorway should expect traffic disruptions between the Weiterstadt and Langen/Mörfelden junctions starting Friday, July 17th . The Autobahn GmbH (Federal Highway Company) is resurfacing a section of approximately four kilometers in the direction of Frankfurt. The work is expected to be completed by the end of August.
Two median crossovers were set up in advance to prepare traffic management during the construction work. This work already led to temporary restrictions in both directions during the night.
With the start of the first construction phase on July 17, traffic will be managed differently depending on the time of day. During the particularly busy morning hours between approximately 5 and 11 a.m., four narrowed lanes will be available in each direction. From 11 a.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning, there will be four lanes towards Basel and three lanes towards Frankfurt.
The renovation will take place in two phases. First, the first, second, and part of the third lane will be renewed. The second phase is currently scheduled to begin on August 14th . Then, the remaining third lane and the fourth lane will be renovated. During this phase, four narrowed lanes will be available in each direction.
The planned dates are subject to suitable weather conditions.
Autobahn GmbH asks all road users to drive with particular care in the construction area and to show understanding for the unavoidable restrictions.
