Partial closure on July 18th after road resurfacing
Motorists should expect delays on Federal Highway 3 near Darmstadt-Wixhausen on Saturday, July 18. Hessen Mobil will be applying the remaining road markings between 8 a.m. and approximately 2 p.m. For this work, the B3 will be partially closed in the construction zone
Traffic will be regulated by temporary traffic lights during the works. The main road will remain open in both directions.
The road marking work completes the road construction project, which began in June, aimed at improving road grip. A new, thin layer of asphalt was applied over a length of approximately 300 meters in the direction of Wixhausen – from about 140 meters before the Frankfurter Landstraße intersection to the Hindemithstraße junction. The right-turn lane onto Frankfurter Landstraße was also resurfaced.
The measure was prompted by measurements that revealed insufficient grip on the road surface and the formation of cracks. To improve road safety, the road received a surface layer of asphalt approximately five millimeters thick, consisting of fine-grained aggregate and a special bitumen emulsion.
The renovation costs amount to approximately 118,000 euros and are being covered by the federal government.
Hessen Mobil asks road users for their understanding and recommends driving with particular caution in the construction area.
