Citizens can harvest fruit trees themselves
On Saturday, September 20, 2025, the science city of Darmstadt invites everyone to the traditional apple harvest at Rosenhöhe. From 8 a.m. onwards, apple trees – including varieties such as Boskop, Goldparmäne, Ontario, Jonagold and Brettacher – as well as quince and pears can be harvested.
Depending on the size of the tree, the fee ranges from approximately 10 to 60 euros. The proceeds go towards the upkeep of the orchard. Harvesting ends at 2 p.m.
Interested citizens are asked to bring their own ladders and baskets. For questions, the city's parks department can be reached 0175 4339680
Rosenhöhe is car-free. Parking is available on Zeyherweg or Seitersweg . Larger loads of fruit can be transported to your parked car using a city electric vehicle. Access via Löwentor and Ludwig-Engel-Weg is not possible.
