Energy monitor shows increasing photovoltaic output – solar park expected to supply electricity for an estimated 2,000 additional households
The town of Reinheim considers itself to be on the right track with its local energy transition. According to current data from the Reinheim Energy Monitor, the installed photovoltaic capacity has increased further. With the solar park already approved by the council, the generation of renewable energy is expected to expand significantly in the future.
Private systems account for the largest share of currently installed photovoltaic capacity, with 5,434 kilowatts (kW). Industry and commerce account for a further 1,779 kW, while municipal systems reach 118 kW. An additional 152 kW has been generated by balcony power plants.
The self-sufficiency rate currently reaches almost 50 percent
The latest data also show a clear trend in self-sufficiency. According to the energy monitor, the self-sufficiency rate was 49 percentand 48 percent for the current month. Since the beginning of the year, it has been 28 percent.
The figures also show that local electricity generation is now supported by numerous different actors. In addition to private households, companies and commercial enterprises, as well as the city itself with its own photovoltaic systems, are participating.
However, the short-term figures of just under 50 percent do not equate to year-round self-sufficiency. The figure since the beginning of the year is therefore more indicative of longer-term trends.
Solar park should enable further expansion
A further significant increase is expected from the solar park in Reinheim, which has already been approved by the city council . According to the city, the renewable energy generated there should theoretically be enough to cover the electricity needs of around 2,000 additional households
The city views the project as part of a longer-term strategy to make Reinheim less dependent on fossil fuels and to expand the municipality's contribution to climate protection.
In addition to the solar park, further potential for photovoltaic systems is to be developed, and municipal buildings and infrastructure are to be further improved in terms of energy efficiency. Citizens and businesses are to continue to play a key role in this process.
The city views the presented figures as evidence that the various measures implemented in recent years are increasingly working together. The expansion of renewable energies will therefore continue in the coming years.
