Benoît Dejaiffe wins runoff election in Griesheim's twin town
In Griesheim's French twin town, Bar-le-Duc, a new mayor was elected. Benoît Dejaiffe prevailed against three other candidates in the second round of voting on March 22, 2026.

Decision in two rounds of voting
Unlike in Griesheim, the local election took place in two rounds. In the decisive round, Dejaiffe received 34.11 percent of the votes and was thus elected the new mayor.
His predecessor, Martine Joly, did not run for re-election after nine years in office due to her age.
Experience from local politics and academia
Dejaiffe, 45, is a lecturer and researcher in the field of educational sciences. His work includes the training of teachers, social workers, and healthcare professionals.
He also brings political experience: since 2018 he has been a member of the municipal council, later of the city council and since 2021 active in the district council.

New municipal council constituted
The municipal council was formed at its first meeting on March 27th. Seven deputy mayors and other council members were appointed.
With the election of Benoît Dejaiffe, the town twinning between Griesheim and Bar-le-Duc gains a new political leader on the French side.
