Natural outdoor swimming pool to reopen regularly from July 10th – cyanobacteria levels have decreased.
Good news for all swimmers: The swimming ban at Arheilger Mühlchen is being lifted , as the current cyanobacteria levels are once again below the legal limit . Regular swimming will resume on Thursday, July 10, 2025 .
The city of Darmstadt, however, emphasizes that caution is still advised when swimming. Visibly discolored or cloudy water areas should be avoided. Furthermore, it is recommended not to dive and to shower thoroughly after swimming .
Natural fluctuations in natural waters
The Arheilger Mühlchen is a natural outdoor swimming pool and is therefore subject to natural ecological fluctuations – for example, due to weather, temperature, or nutrient inputs. To ensure safety of swimmers water quality is continuously monitored . This allows any changes to be detected early and new measures to be taken if necessary.
