Police offer free protection against bicycle theft – also for e-scooters
The Darmstadt Police Department in a bicycle and e-scooter coding event on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bismarckstraße 16 in Darmstadt. Advance registration is not required.
Coding is considered a valuable addition to properly securing bicycles and e-scooters. Along with sturdy locks and GPS trackers, coding increases the chances of finding stolen vehicles.
Information on participation
To ensure smooth processing, participants should have the following documents ready:
- Identification document (identity card or passport)
- Proof of ownership of the bicycle or e-scooter
- Information about manufacturer, type and frame number
Owners of e-bikes or pedelecs should also bring their battery keys. To avoid waiting times, the police recommend removing any attachments such as locks or containers from the midframe beforehand. Carbon bikes are excluded from the coding process.
