Police offer free protection against bicycle theft – also for e-scooters
The Darmstadt 1st Police Precinct to a bicycle and e-scooter coding event on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bismarckstraße 16 in Darmstadt. No prior registration is required.
Coding is considered a valuable addition to the proper security of bicycles and e-scooters. Alongside sturdy locks and GPS trackers, coding increases the chances of recovering stolen vehicles.
Information on participation
To ensure a smooth process, participants should have the following documents ready:
- Identification document (identity card or passport)
- Proof of ownership for bicycle or e-scooter
- Information on manufacturer, type and frame number
Owners of e-bikes or pedelecs should also bring their battery keys. To avoid waiting times, the police recommend removing attachments such as locks or containers from the center frame beforehand. Carbon bikes are excluded from the coding process.
