New offering “Board Game Heroes” brings people together at the game table
In Reinheim, a photo studio has been combining photography with an unusual additional service for several months: board games. At the invitation of studio owner Jan Riedel, Mayor Manuel Feick and economic development officer Grit Schieck recently learned about the new concept.
Board games can now be purchased at the photo studio on Darmstädter Straße. The space is also regularly transformed into a small board game café.
Game nights in the photo studio
On Tuesdays from 7 pm and Saturdays from 2:30 pm, gaming enthusiasts meet to play together. Plans are in place to eventually include some Sundays in the program.
The selection ranges from simple dice and card games to more complex games for connoisseurs and experts. More than a hundred games are already available to try out and can be played on-site. Many titles are recent releases, and the selection is constantly being expanded.
Guests of all ages
The program is used by people of different ages. Children can participate accompanied by their parents, while adults and senior citizens also regularly attend the game nights.
Many guests who initially just wanted to try out the offer have since become regular visitors.
Also suitable for company parties
In addition to open game nights, Jan Riedel now also organizes events for groups. For example, a Christmas party was already held as a joint game night in the studio.
“After a break of over 25 years from board games, I was immediately thrilled again: sophisticated mechanics, people coming together, laughing – and getting away from the console for a change. And all this with people of all ages,” says Riedel about his motivation.
Mayor Manuel Feick also expressed interest in the offer: "It's exciting to see how many games there are in the various categories and how many games you don't even know about."
