Focus on language support and pedagogical methods in everyday day care centers
A special book exhibition took place again this year in the town hall in Weiterstadt, which was aimed specifically at pedagogical specialists and trainees. It was organized by the language support expert group and Ariane Krüger-Haas, specialist service early education and families.
The central topic of the exhibition was the question of which topics children are currently particularly concerned - and how suitable children's books and language support methods can take up. The basis of the exhibition was feedback from the city's daycare centers: Current areas of interest were collected there, which were then taken into account in the selection of the books shown.
At the opening, Christina Rösch from the city library presented a lively picture book cinema that not only entertained, but also clearly conveyed the value of good reading culture. The audience sat among other things prospective social assistants and their teachers.
Afterwards, the participants were able to try out different methods of language support at different stations: from the Kamishibai (a Japanese narrative theater) to a narrative table to a systematic reading cycle. The methods presented were presented in a practical way and invited to participate and ask.
The exhibition not only offered new impulses for everyday day care centers, but also space for collegial exchange. In a relaxed atmosphere, it was browsed, discussed and together as a result of how language support can be creatively and child -friendly.
The city of Weiterstadt draws a positive conclusion: the book exhibition once again showed how valuable targeted language promotion is in the early childhood area - and how much potential is in the collaboration between practice and theory.
