Several children hospitalized after inhaling smoke
Following the fire at the Erich Kästner School in Kranichstein, police have identified a suspect. A spokesperson told TV Darmstadt this afternoon that a nine-year-old boy is believed to have started the fire.
The boy is said to be a student at the primary school himself and is alleged to have set fire to a towel dispenser in the boys' restrooms . The police investigation is relying on the child's testimony.
Thirty children inhaled smoke in the fire. Nine of them had to be taken to a hospital.
