Construction work will begin on November 24th – traffic will continue in both directions.
Hessen Mobil has announced that work will begin on Monday, November 24th B 45 between Dieburg and Altheim . The structure spans Deutsche Bahn railway tracks and an agricultural access road. The project is extensive and, according to current plans, should be completed by the end of October 2026
Traffic management during the construction period
The B 45 is a four-lane highway in this section. During the renovation, traffic will continue in both directions, but will be temporarily reduced to one lane in each direction . A newly constructed median crossover will allow traffic to be diverted alternately onto the opposite carriageway.
Hessen Mobil will first set up the traffic management system. Only then will the actual construction work begin in January 2026 in the direction of Rodgau.
Scope of the renovation
The bridge, built in 1976, shows damage to several components, including:
- abutment
- Superstructure and substructure
- Transition structures
- Wing and support walls
The renovation will include, among other things:
- Road surface, pavement and waterproofing renewed
- Railings and contact protection removed during the construction period
- Cracks, spalling and exposed reinforcement repaired
- Waterproof transition structures were installed.
- Road surface including frost protection layer rebuilt
- Guardrails replaced
- Construction joints and drainage pipes renewed
Costs and financing
The total costs amount to approximately 1.5 million euros and are fully covered by the federal government.
