Further dates on June 22nd and August 24th / Mayor Akdeniz: "Flea markets promote independence and life skills"
The popular Darmstadt children's flea market season starts on Sunday, May 4, 2025, on Friedensplatz. Other dates are Sunday, June 22nd, and Sunday, August 24th. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., children between the ages of 6 and 14 can sell their used toys, books, clothing and much more - except for war toys.
Registration is possible on site at the stand of child and youth promotion, which also takes over the placement of space. Participation is free of charge, stand fees are not charged. Tables or clothes racks are not allowed - a blanket or ISMATTUM can be brought as a pad.
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes the pedagogical value of the markets: "The children's flea markets promote independence and convey to children that they have their place in city events. They learn to negotiate prices, take responsibility and be more conscious - important life skills that are conveyed in a playful way."
The organizer is the child and youth promotion in the youth welfare office of the science city of Darmstadt. The events have to be canceled when it rains.
