The Friendship Mobile and the Traveling House of Materials start in the district
New mobile services for children and families are being developed in the growing Ludwigshöhe district of Darmstadt. The city of Darmstadt is relying on two proven projects: the FRIENDSHIP MOBILE and the Traveling House of Materials .
Both activities are free and accessible without registration. They are intended to facilitate interaction, creativity, and shared play within the neighborhood until the planned youth center opens.
“Children and young people need places where they can play, develop, and meet others,” explains Mayor Barbara Akdeniz. These mobile services bring such meeting places directly into the neighborhood.
Friendship Mobile celebrates its tenth anniversary
The FRIENDSHIP MOBILE, run by the organization "Das Rotzfreche SPIELMOBIL" (The Cheeky Play Mobile) of the SJD – Die Falken Darmstadt eV, starts its new season in mid-March. The project has been providing open play and meeting spaces for children between four and fourteen years old since 2016.
To mark its tenth anniversary, the Ludwigshöhe district will be included as a regular deployment location for the first time. The new location will be in the "Landschaftstreppe Ost" green space, near the children's playground.
Creative offering from Ubuntu eV.
The traveling House of Materials, run by the association Ubuntu eV, will also be stopping in the Ludwigshöhe district in 2026. Under the title "Places of Imagination," the project invites children, teenagers, and adults to engage in creative work with various materials.
The project is scheduled to kick off at the neighborhood square after the Easter holidays. A workbench, easels, material kits, and a bus will create an open space for collaborative design and exchange.
The focus is not on the finished product, but on the creative process and the development of one's own ideas.
