City bike campaign starts on May 17th / Mayor Krebs-Wetzl: "Together a sign of sustainable mobility"
From May 17 to June 6, 2025, the city of Griesheim again took part in the international campaign of the city bike of the climate alliance. All Griesheimers as well as people who work in the city, go to school or belong to an association are invited to cover as many kilometers by bike for 21 days during the campaign period - professionally and privately. Registration is now possible at www.stadtradeln.de/griesheim .
Participants can join an existing team or found their own team. The aim is to switch to the bike and thus make an active contribution to climate protection. Magistrate members and city councilors also cycle.
Mayor Verfa Krebs-Wetzl emphasizes:
"City bikes are not only about competition and movement, but also about conscious mobility. I am happy about anyone who takes part. Let's leave the car more often for three weeks-for a better climate and more quality of life."
Local competition and climate balance
Griesheim is once again measures with other municipalities in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district this year. The campaign is coordinated nationwide and accompanied scientifically. The background is the significant contribution of traffic to the CO₂ balance: Around a quarter of inner-city emissions go back to car traffic. Even if a third of all short -haul routes are covered up to six kilometers by bike, according to experts, up to 7.5 million tons of CO₂ could be avoided.
Citizen participation with radar!
In addition to cycling, citizens can be on the Radar platform! Give information about cycling infrastructure in Griesheim. The information flows directly into the municipal traffic planning.
