The science city of Darmstadt invites you to a bicycle tour of showcase projects on September 17th
As part of Climate Adaptation Week (September 15–19, 2025), the City of Darmstadt a Climate Cycling Tour on Wednesday, September 17. The tour starts at 4:30 p.m. at the Office for Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation (Hilpertstraße 31) and leads by bicycle to various climate adaptation projects within the city.
Stops on the bike tour
After the start, the tour will first go to the Alnatura Campus , where a guided tour of the climate-adapted outdoor area will begin. Further stops include:
- BUND's urban nature centre in Bessungen – with information on the sustainable outdoor area and tips from the urban nature guides.
- Heinrichwingertsweg – Visit to a municipal de-sealing and greening project.
- Campus Lichtwiese – Presentation of the redesigned Eugen-Kogon-Straße, awarded the Climate Prize 2023.
The tour ends at the Lichtwiesen beer garden at around 7 pm .
Combining climate protection and city cycling
“Through the Climate Cycling Tour, we combine climate protection and climate adaptation by having participants cycle to CO₂-saving private and municipal showcase climate adaptation projects in the city. At the same time, kilometers can be collected for the city cycling campaign,” explains Climate Protection Officer Michael Kolmer .
The route is approximately 7.5 kilometers long . Participants must bring their own bicycle. Pre-registration is not required.
