Children and young people create their own canvases during the autumn holidays
at the Goddelau Youth Center during the first week of the holidays: Children and young people participated in a three-day creative workshop where they designed their own canvases. Under the guidance of youth worker Kai Faßnacht and vocational school student Alina , they created individual works of art using homemade frames and creative coloring techniques.
Patience before the first application of paint
Before the paint was applied to the canvas, patience and planning required. At long work tables, the participants carefully arranged their paper stencils on primed canvases. They had to consider the order in which areas should be covered to achieve the desired color effect.
Following last year's successful "On the Trail of Art" holiday program, Faßnacht once again offered a three-day creative workshop . While in October 2024, artworks in the Cubist style were created, this time the focus was on original creations using self-designed stencils .
Craftsmanship and creativity in a team
On the first day, the children and young people built their own canvas frames , picked up a saw, hammer, and stapler, and then covered the frames with fabric. On the second day, they primed the canvas before everyone chose a motif and cut out appropriate stencils.
On the last day, colorful works of art were created: Melissa (12) worked on a face in neon yellow, Sina (13) painted her cow with pink forehead spots, and Giuliano (10) patiently dabbed the red background for his cat picture with a foam brush. Others reached for a spray can , and the wind even blew away a stencil.
Whether dabbing, painting, or spraying – at the end, each participant was able to take home an individual work of art.
