Focus on textile reuse – screen printing workshop and discounts planned
The department store KAGEL invites you to its first sustainable fashion show on Saturday, October 18, 2025 , from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event kicks off KAGEL Fashion Week , which runs until October 25 and features discounts on clothing and shoes
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of reuse and sustainability in the fashion industry . "With this fashion week, KAGEL is focusing on the reuse of textiles, which reduces raw material consumption and extends product lifespans," explains City Treasurer André Schellenberg . "It's particularly worthwhile to consider resource consumption when producing new textiles, as approximately one kilogram of chemicals is used to manufacture one kilogram of clothing."
Activities and opportunities to participate on October 18th
To kick things off on October 18th, Foodsharing e.V. and the Tigerblau screen printing studio will also be participating . Foodsharing will be distributing rescued food, while visitors can design their own T-shirts, bags, or posters using screen printing. Both initiatives will be on site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Donate clothes instead of throwing them away
Anyone wishing to donate rarely worn clothing or unwanted purchases can drop them off directly at KAGEL, Pallaswiesenstraße 122, or use the free "Kreislaufbote" . This service collects well-preserved clothing from Darmstadt households free of charge by appointment. Further information and registration are available at https://kreislaufboten.ka-gel.de
