Closing times in October and over the holidays – reading room partially open
As the City of Darmstadt announces, the Darmstadt City Archives closed to the public from Monday, October 20, to Friday, October 31, 2025. no consultations held, and no archival materials made available. The reading room in the House of History is exempt from the closure. Archival materials that have been ordered in advance can still be viewed there.

Closed in December and over the holidays
On Wednesday, December 17, 2025 closed from 2 p.m. onwards due to an internal event . The reading room will be closed that afternoon; access will only possible in the morning.
From Monday, December 22, 2025, to Friday, January 2, 2026 , the reading room at the House of History will be completely closed. Access to archival materials on site will not be possible during this time.
