The main office in the Justus Liebig House will close earlier on three days
Due to the forecast of temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, the Darmstadt City Library is adjusting its opening hours at short notice. This affects the main branch in the Justus Liebig House from Thursday, August 13th, through Saturday, August 15th, 2026.
According to the city, the reduced opening hours are for safety reasons. The branch libraries in Kranichstein and Eberstadt, however, will remain open during their regular hours. The bookmobile will also continue to run as scheduled.
Changed opening hours at the Justus Liebig House
The main branch of the city library will be open at the following times on the three days:
- Thursday, August 13: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Friday, August 14: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Saturday, August 15: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The event “Dialogue in German” on Thursday and the reading on Saturday are cancelled due to the changed opening hours.
Branch libraries are open as usual
The Kranichstein district library will be open as usual on Thursday, August 13th, from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm.
The Eberstadt district library also has its usual opening hours: Thursday from 2 pm to 6 pm and Friday from 9 am to 1 pm.
The bookmobile resumes its regular route.
The Darmstadt City Library will provide information about any further short-term changes . The library's digital services remain available 24/7, regardless of the changed opening hours.
