Highlight tours and special guided tours in January and beyond
Public city tours offer new perspectives on Darmstadt , convey fascinating stories, and provide deeper insights into the city's culture, history, and present. The so-called highlight tours, in particular, focus on specific themes and invite visitors to rediscover familiar places.
History INCLUDED: Guided tour of the Royal Palace
Darmstadt's residential palace is the focus of this themed tour. After a walk through the grounds, treasures of the Hessian princely family are presented in the palace museum. The tour spans seven centuries of urban and regional history in the heart of Darmstadt.
Dates:
Sunday, January 18, and Sunday, February 15, at 3 p.m. each day.

Neighborhood tours at Merck
During the guided tours at the Merck , participants gain insights into the world's oldest chemical and pharmaceutical company at its headquarters. The tours present the company's areas of expertise in Life Science, Healthcare, and Electronics, as well as the history of this internationally operating corporation with more than 63,000 employees worldwide.
Dates:
Thursday, January 22, and Thursday, February 19, at 3 p.m. each day.
Duration: 90 to 120 minutes.
Meeting point: Visitor reception, Innovation Center, Frankfurter Straße 250, Building B31.

Further dates for 2026 are scheduled for April 30, May 28, August 20, October 22, and December 10. Booking will be opened quarterly.
The Wedding Tower – a landmark with a view
The 48.5-meter-high Wedding Tower is one of the city's most famous landmarks. The tour begins on the observation platform on the seventh floor, offering views as far as Frankfurt. Afterwards, the tour includes a visit to the Prince's Room and the Wedding Room. The tower was designed by Joseph Maria Olbrich .

Guided tours of the exhibition “Nevin Aladağ – Raise the Roof”
Nevin Aladağ – Raise the Roof at Mathildenhöhe will be offered regularly until February 1, 2026
Public guided tours:
Saturdays at 3 pm and Sundays at 12 pm.
Duration: 60 minutes.
Meeting point: Ticket office in the exhibition building.
Note: Admission included in the ticket price.
Special guided tours “From the roof to the cellar – Nevin Aladağ’s sound installation in the water reservoir”:
Saturdays, 4:30 p.m., and Sundays, 4 p.m.
Duration: 60 minutes.
Meeting point: in front of the exhibition building at Sabaisplatz.
Note: Admission to the exhibition building is not included.
