30-year-old remanded in custody following police intervention
During checks carried out as part of the "Safe City Center" program, police in Darmstadt arrested a 30-year-old man. According to police, officers found more than 20 packets of cocaine in his possession. An investigating judge has since ordered him remanded in custody.
Officers from the South Hesse Police Headquarters conducted extensive identity checks in downtown Darmstadt on Tuesday (August 25) between 12 pm and 5 pm. They were supported by officers from the Hessian riot police.
More than 20 capsules containing cocaine were found
Around 3 p.m., officers stopped a 30-year-old man on Julius-Reiber-Straße. According to police, a search revealed more than 20 packets of cocaine. Based on the circumstances, investigators suspect him of drug trafficking.
The homeless man was arrested and brought before an investigating judge at the Darmstadt District Court on Wednesday. At the request of the public prosecutor's office, the judge issued an arrest warrant and ordered his detention. The 30-year-old was then taken to a correctional facility.
Crack was seized from two other people
During the checks, officers also found crack cocaine on a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against both.
