Police checked 93 passengers - four knives and over 45 grams of hashish confiscated
As part of the immediate program "Safe Downtown", the 1st police station on Tuesday (March 18) carried out extensive controls in the field of peace square together with the Darmstadt city police, the riot police and the criminal police. The aim was to check the new knife and weapon ban zone in public transport.
Eight buses and two trams checked
Between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. and 5 and 7:30 p.m., a total of eight buses and two trams were stopped. The officials checked 93 passengers. Three folding knives and a pocket knife were secured. The administrative offense procedure was initiated against the persons concerned.
Over 45 grams of hashish confiscated
With an 18-year-old passenger from Groß-Zimmer, the emergency services found 49 individually packaged portions of hashish with a total weight of over 45 grams. The adolescents were temporarily arrested and brought to the police station for further clarification. There the criminal police filed a criminal complaint. In the course of the investigation, the man's apartment was also searched - another 16 grams of hashish were ensured.
Positive reactions from the population
The police recorded positive feedback: many citizens welcomed the increased presence and praised the measures to increase security in public spaces. The police and the city of Darmstadt announced that the controls continue in order to sustainably improve both lenses and subjective security in local public transport.
