Tourist information office in the town hall foyer awarded for quality and guest service
The Darmstadt Tourist Information Shop in the town hall foyer has once again been awarded the i-Mark by the German Tourism Association (DTV). The central tourist information office of the science city of Darmstadt successfully passed the quality assessment and will receive certification for another three years.
The Darmstadt Shop has been certified as an official tourist information center with the i-Mark since 2009. With the move to the new town hall foyer, the services offered were expanded and restructured.
“The successful i-Mark certification shows that combining the tourist information office and the central town hall entrance in the new town hall foyer was a correct and important step. With the town hall foyer, we are creating a modern service hub that effectively combines citizen engagement, tourist information, and revitalization of the city center,” explains Mayor Hanno Benz.
Since March 2026, the science city of Darmstadt has had a central and barrier-free access point to the town hall and numerous city services via the new town hall foyer. The aim is to consolidate services with high public demand in one location and create a central point of contact for citizens and visitors of the city.
In addition to a central reception area and the service point of the citizens' representative, the Darmstadt Shop, serving as a tourist and city information center, is also integrated there. Visitors can obtain information on sights, events, and leisure activities, as well as personal advice. The offerings are complemented by souvenirs and regional products.
“We are delighted to have received the i-Mark award again. It confirms the high quality of our work and our commitment to offering guests and residents of Darmstadt a comprehensive and service-oriented information and advisory service,” says Anja Herdel, Managing Director of Darmstadt Marketing GmbH.

Nationwide quality seal for tourist information
The "i" mark of the German Tourism Association is a nationally recognized quality seal for tourist information centers. Around 750 establishments in Germany bear this award.
A comprehensive quality check is required, which includes an evaluation of infrastructure, facilities, offerings, and service. The inspection is conducted anonymously by trained inspectors who assess the establishments from the guests' perspective.
The basis is a standardized set of criteria across Germany. Only tourist information offices that meet the required standards receive the i-mark.
