Heiligenberg Foundation Jugenheim signposted route through forest and landscape park
The Heiligenberg Jugenheim Foundation has marked out a new hiking trail from the Lufthansa Hotel Seeheim to Heiligenberg Castle in Jugenheim. The route is primarily aimed at hotel guests, but also invites other walkers to enjoy a short hike through the forest and historic parkland.
The trail begins at the terrace of the Lufthansa Seeheim Hotel and leads through Goldschmidt Park, through the forest to the Stettbach Valley, and on to Heiligenberg. After about 30 minutes, hikers reach the landscaped gardens of Heiligenberg Castle. The route is marked by a white oval within a green square, clearly visible on trees and other points along the way.
History and views on the Heiligenberg
There's plenty to discover at the destination. The museum in the Russian House and the restaurant in the castle offer opportunities for a break. From the balustrade under the linden trees, you can also enjoy a sweeping view of the surrounding landscape.
Around the castle, other historical sites and buildings await: the bathhouse with its historic swimming pool, the Princess's Cottage, the arcade, the Golden Cross, the tithe linden tree, the ruins of a 13th-century monastery, and the mausoleum.
Those wishing to learn more about the history of Heiligenberg Castle and its former inhabitants can book a guided tour of the grounds. Tours are offered in German, English, and Spanish.
