EAD offers a mobile hazardous waste collection service in several city districts
The city of Darmstadt, a center of science and technology, is offering a mobile collection service for hazardous waste on April 22nd and 23rd. According to the municipal services department (EAD), private households can conveniently drop off their hazardous waste at various locations throughout the city.
The mobile hazardous waste collection unit complements the stationary collection point in Sensfelderweg and is specifically aimed at households that want to dispose of smaller quantities safely.
Which types of waste are accepted
Accepted items include paints, thinners, cleaning agents, spray cans, pesticides, and energy-saving light bulbs. Mercury-containing items such as thermometers can also be dropped off.
The quantity delivered is limited to a maximum of 20 kilograms per delivery. Individual containers may hold a maximum of 20 liters.
Items such as emulsion paints, used oil, car batteries, and electronic waste are not accepted. Separate disposal methods apply to these items.
Locations and times of the mobile hazardous waste collection service
On Wednesday, April 22nd, the hazardous waste collection vehicle will be in several districts:
Wixhausen, Arheilgen, Kranichstein, Waldkolonie and Gervinusviertel.
On Thursday, April 23, further stops will follow:
Eberstadt (two locations), Heimstättensiedlung and Bessungen.
The respective waiting times are in the morning and early afternoon.
Alternative: Stationary collection point
Hazardous waste can also be dropped off year-round at the collection point on Sensfelderweg. It is open several times a week.
A fee is charged for small quantities of commercial waste.
