Full closure on March 7th due to work on the water main
The municipality of Groß-Gerau will completely close Darmstädter Straße to traffic on Saturday, March 7, 2026, between the B44/B42 federal highways and the vocational schools at house number 90. This closure is due to the renewal of the central water pipeline on behalf of the Gerauer Land waterworks.
The work is scheduled to last from Saturday, March 7th, to Monday, March 9th. Weather permitting, the asphalt paving is planned for Monday. The road will reopen on Sunday, March 8th, but will only be open to traffic in one direction at a time. Traffic disruptions are therefore expected on both Sunday and Monday.
Detours and restrictions in bus services
The parking lot at the district sports hall will remain accessible throughout the entire construction period, but on Saturday only from the direction of the city center.
The detour will be via the B44/42 federal highway, Gernsheimer Straße, Friedrichstraße, and then again via Darmstädter Straße. Alternatively, the route leads via the B44/42, Gernsheimer Straße, Am Marktplatz, and Darmstädter Straße.
On Saturday, March 7th, a no-stopping zone will be in effect on Friedrichstrasse between Gernsheimer Strasse and Darmstädter Strasse due to bus rerouting. The "Groß-Gerau Berufsschule" bus stop will be closed that day.
